We are a group of biomedical research scientists whose research in sex development and DSD was jointly funded by the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council from 2005 to 2019, as the NHMRC Research Program in Human DSD. This team pooled their expertise in human genetics, developmental biology and molecular biology with the aim of identifying genes important for sex determination and development of the gonads, and discovering how they contribute to DSD.

This objective of our research is to provide a scientific basis for diagnosing, understanding and managing DSD.

The team is committed to strengthening the links between basic researchers, medical practitioners, and affected people and their families. It is our hope that improved communication and interaction will lead to a better understanding and acceptance of variations in sex development among affected families and the broader community.
